1.8t ---> 2.0t with pistons

Postby wpGTI » Fri Sep 21, 2012 12:06 pm

Hi,

In the last speed and sound mag(i think), there was an advert for ?Wossner? pistons that would increase capacity on the 1.8t to 2.0t.

Question is: why have i not seen many of these 2.0t 20v monsters running around, or any build threads? is it impractical, or just a waste of cash?

I would have thought the change in capacity alone would already add a bit more power across the rev range?

I dont think it would be a straight fit , you would surely have to "make them fit" (Moer them in)

You will have to rebore for the pistons to work.
The only race you have to win is the race against yourself - there will always be someone faster and stronger but there will never be another you, so look within and push your own personal boundaries.

Stroking a 1.8T is not as easy as dropping new pistons in

alot has to change to make it work

Not worth the risk IMO

The 1.8T is a masterpiece for strength and reliability... Probably the strongest built mass produced turbocharged VAG motor to date

There's so much more to gain from doing mods around the motor rather than internally ;)

I have 2.0 build and to use those pistons you will need fsi crank (due to stroke) and oil pump gear, amongst other things lol

It's been successfully done many many times.

Yosh can attest to the benefits...
Fast and cheap won't be reliable, reliable and cheap won't be fast, fast and reliable won't be cheap.
